It is agreed that the Official Time of Chile should be centralized and controlled by only one State Department that has all the necessary elements and instruments to provide a time signal rigorously accurate, and that has great experience on the matter.

Decree:

1st) The Hydrographic Institute of the Navy (present Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy) is appointed as the only official authority of the State responsible for controlling and transmitting the official time of Chile and time signals for navigational purposes.

2nd) The Hydrographic Institute of the Navy will be the official representative of the State of Chile in the International Time Bureau.
