That there is convenience for the Official Time of Chile to be centralized and controlled by one governmental entity, which has the all the necessary elements and instruments to provide a time signal with the strictest accuracy, and that it has extensive experience in this matter.

“(…) Decree:

1st) The Hydrographic Institute of the Navy (currently the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy) is the only official authority in the Country in charge of the control and diffusion of the official time in Chile, and the time signals with sailing purposes.
2nd) The Hydrographic Institute of the Navy will be the official representative of the State of Chile to the International Time Bureau…
